Help put Adelaide’s Startup Community on the Global Stage
Adelaide University The winner of last weekend’s Startup Weekend Adelaide, DataMunch is now competing in the Global Startup Battle against 120 other winners from cities all around the world.
At Startup Weekend Adelaide, 12 teams and 70 participants had 54 hours to pitch an idea, build a team, build a product and strategy, then submit a five minute pitch with three minutes question time to a team of successful local and international entrepreneurs.
137 cities around the world held Startup Weekends last weekend and the weekend before using exactly the same format.
The winning teams from each city then had 24 hours to develop and submit a 90 second video pitch to compete in the Global Startup Battle.

The DataMunch idea is to combine isolated data sources to deliver insights online where users can choose the information they wish to purchase and the way they wish to purchase it.
They took home $12,500 worth of prizes including $6,000 in legal and financial services consulting fees.
DataMunch Marketing Specialist, Claire Richardson said, “I immediately thought the idea had legs as I know what we are developing is quicker, cheaper and easier than alternatives that are currently available.”
“Startup Weekend is a fantastic initiative which has helped so many of us in Adelaide and around the world to take ideas from just that to actual functioning businesses in just 54 hours,” she said.
“I have been fortunate to be a part of the Business SA SAYes Young Entrepreneur Program as well as Startup Weekend and I know that Adelaide has an incredible community of experienced and burgeoning entrepreneurs. We would like Adelaide to get behind us and help put Adelaide on the Global Startup Map.”

Voting started on Thursday 22nd November and people with Facebook and will continue for seven days to Wednesday 28th November. People may vote once per day per Facebook account over this period.
