A new ‘Guide to Living and Working in Sydney’ has been released in an effort to attract more overseas skilled professionals to Sydney.
The guide is part of the Global Talent Hub initiative – a partnership between the NSW Government and Committee for Sydney to make Sydney a magnet for globally mobile professional talent.

According to NSW Deputy Premier “For NSW to compete on the world stage we need to be able to attract the world’s best professional talent, while Sydney is a great place to live, if we are to attract and retain highly-skilled professionals we need to better promote the advantages the city can offer for career progression."

“Today I launched the new ‘Living and Working in Sydney’ Guide, one of the first initiatives by a new Global Sydney HR Leaders Network, composed of more than a dozen HR managers from leading firms and universities based in Sydney including Arup, Macquarie Group, PWC, KPMG, Lend Lease, the Universities of NSW and Western Sydney to help drive initiatives that aim to make Sydney a more attractive prospect for highly skilled professionals.
“It’s much more than a guidebook – it’s an essential tool to help newcomers find out more about the best places to live, work and play in Sydney, as well as a source of information on government services, education, tax, visas and more. It will be a living document and something that we can build on over time,” Mr Stoner said.

The new Living and Working in Sydney Guide includes:
 Comprehensive information about where to live in Sydney, including a guide to Sydney’s regions and information on housing;
 An overview of Sydney’s economy, including industry profiles and information on where in Sydney you can expect to work, based on your profession;
 Facts on the cost of living, including how much you can expect to earn in Sydney, and how far your dollar might go, relative to other overseas cities;
 Essential information on everyday life aspects – such as shopping, education, healthcare, transport, tax, visas and bank accounts;
 Details on how to meet people, entertainment options, sport and recreation;
 Beautifully illustrated photography from Louise Hawson of 52suburbs.com.au fame.
