Social Worker Job Resume Primary Education Online Unit Coordinator

I recently attended the New Venture Institute (NVI) Flinders University Entrepreneurs in Conversation Event in Adelaide City and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the experiences of the successful entrepreneurs.
There was lot to learn out there.
Here are some points from their conversation that I have compiled which should be useful for upcoming entrepreneurs and those planning to Study Business.

Tips from Maggie Beer(South Australian cook, food author and restaurateur)

  • When the business goes through transition you need new and better kind of skills
  • Don’t do the mistake of hiring people like you
  • Have open discussion with the team
  • There should be strong emphasis on quality assurance
  • Use your instincts
  • Don’t be in a hurry to come out with a new product
  • Not all ideas would work but that doesn’t mean you should stop learning
  • Hard work brings success
  • Work ethics learnt at a young age lead to good business skills later
  • Negative energy is hindrance to business
  • If you believe in what you are doing then ignore the criticism
  • Balance in life is important
  • Luck, openness, risk taking are important factors for the success of a business

Tips from Marita Cheng(2012’s Young Australian of the Year and founder of Robogals)

  • Set ambitious goals
  • Be a keen listener
  • Have confidence in the Team
  • As an entrepreneur you have to be prepared for a tough emotional journey
  • In an organisation you need people with fresh ideas and energy
  • Some relationships take time to develop
  • Choose you University subjects wisely.

Besides the above two there was Rahmon Coupe(YourAmigo CEO who identified novel search technology. Despite being in the aftermath of the dot.com bust, YourAmigo has since raised substantial amounts in angel capital, now with worldwide offices)

His talk was related to past, present and future of search.

Although there were no specific tips from him but his talk was the one I could relate to and enjoyed the most.

His experiences refreshed my memory and reminded me of the days where we had search engines and sites like Altavista, AOL, Infoseek, Web Crawler etc.
