As an international student in Australia you have the permission to work part time (up to 40 hours per fortnight) while you study i.e. If you are in Australia on a student visa, you can work up to 20 hours each week during the term, and unlimited hours during the university breaks.
A lot of students find jobs working in cafes, restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. Many prefer to look for a part-time job by walking around shopping and food districts and leaving copies of their resume at cafes, restaurants and shops( You could find food joints like Subway placing a Job ad just along their counter looking for part time people)
The nominal hourly wage for casual work is approx $15.
