Yeah the old and traditional resume is still important in the age of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even a new domain name extension “.tel ”.
The moment you start writing the resume you realise there is a lot of information that can be included but can you really put the entire career history in a Resume and actually should you ?
Considering that the recruiter is really short of time you have to make your resume easily scan able with major skills and achievements highlighted.
Some quick tips on Resume Writing:
1. The current/last job details go first
2. If you managed a team mention the numbers
3. You may be proud of your school or college but its better to put your educational details after the work experience
4. Highlight your skills. There is no harm in describing these skills
5. Avoid long paragraphs. The resume needs to catch attention.
6. 1 – 2 page resume is considered ideal and hence you have to chose carefully what information should go on it. Information like religion, birth date, hobbies can be avoided
7. Check and recheck your Resume for any spelling and grammatical errors
